DIY Super Simple No-Sew Bow
Welcome to my blog Arty Allsorts. This is my first post and first tutorial and will be on how to make the perfect hair bow. This is ideal for both children and adults, as the measurements can be altered so simply. It could be given for a gift, or keep it for yourself. It’s so simple to make and so cheap.
Above is what you will need to make these adorable bows. It includes the chosen material for your bow, alligator clips, a pipe cleaner, scissors, an iron or straightener, a ruler, a pencil and a hot glue gun with glue or fabric glue.
Measurements for your bow can be adapted for a small, medium or large bow. Personally I like the medium sized bow.
Small – 6 inches x 3 inches (main part of bow), 3 inches x 1 inch (small section)
Medium – 10 inches x 5 inches (main part of bow), 5 inches x 1 inch (small section)
Large –14 inches x 7 inches (main part of bow), 7 inches x 2 inches (small section)
The first step is to mark out the measurements on the back of the fabric. Here I use 10 inches x 5 inches for the main part of the bow and 5 inches x 1 inch for the smaller section.
Afterwards you need to fold in the sides slightly (about ¼ to ½ an inch) and apply heat. You can either use an iron or a straightener. You will do this to both the small and large material. Next you will need to take the large piece of material and fold each side just over halfway and fold it back and fore, as you would with a paper fan.
To secure this in place you will need to take a pipe cleaner and tie is around the middle of the folded material. Afterwards covering the pipe cleaner with some more material and using either a glue gun or fabric glue to secure it in place.
Lastly use a hot glue gun to add an alligator clip onto the back of the bow. It is optional to add a small piece of fabric through the inside of the alligator clip, but I chose not to include this step.
And there it is, your complete DIY Super Simple No-Sew Bow!
I hope you all enjoy this super easy craft.
